The Vondelpark is Amsterdam s largest and most famous city park, located south of the Leidseplein. In the middle of the park is an open air theater, which stages all kinds of free performances, workshops, and DJs during the summer. Wednesdays are mainly child oriented, Thursdays there are salsa and tango workshops, and Fridays through Sundays you can find theater and musical performances.

HARTJES DAGEN (DAYS OF THE HEARTS)- ZEEDIJK,AMSTERDAM

This weekend in August, the Zeedijk neighborhood locals celebrate Hartjesdagen (Days of the
Hearts). The lavish street festival dates back to the Middle Ages and is all about love songs and
dance music. Highlight is the Hart jes Parade (Parade of the Hearts), a procession of men dressed as women and vice versa.

This exhibition features 17th century portraits of Dutch men of standing, created by i.e. Frans Hals and Rembrandt. The exhibition gives insight into the fashion, occupations and ambitions of these affluent 17th century individuals during the Golden Age.
