Advantages of the I amsterdam Card
With the chip card of the I amsterdam Card and the Transport Ticket you are able to use the:
• public transport (tram, bus and underground of the GVB)
• free admission to a large amount of museums in Amsterdam
• a free canal boat tour
• discounts of 25% at some attractions using the I amsterdam Card
• free snacks and drinks

The I amsterdam Card consists of a card, a public transport ticket and a full colour I amsterdam Card Guide. The consumer can choose from an I amsterdam Card for 24, 48 or 72 hours. With the card, more than 25 participating museums can be visited for free. Use of public transport has been added to the I amsterdam Card again as well as a free canal boat tour.
A discount of 25% on some attractions and restaurants is also included. The I amsterdam Card is valid from 01 January 2007 until 31 December 2007.

 

How to use the Transport Ticket and the I amsterdam Card
• Carefully read the instructions as described in the I amsterdam Card Guide
• Your I amsterdam Card comes in a sealed pack. Whether the I amsterdam card is valid for 24, 48, or 72    
  hours is clearly indicated on the front.
• Check whether the package contains the card, and whether the Card and the transport ticket are valid for the right number of hours.
• Write your name in the area reserved for that purpose on the I amsterdam Card
• Fill in the date of the day that you will start using the I amsterdam Card for the first time
• Your I amsterdam Card and Transport Ticket will become valid from the hour of stamping and the following hours.

Free attraction or museum visit
At the attractions or museums that offer free admission, you simply show your I amsterdam Card to the cashier. He or she will then run your I amsterdam Card through a scanner or record the number of your I amsterdam Card. Your I amsterdam Card will automatically become electronically activated from first use. If you have not filled in the date on your card then the cashier will request you to do so. You will not have to pay for anything, but there may be a surcharge for some special exhibitions. Note: You will only be able to visit each attraction or museum ONCE with your I amsterdam card.

 

Discounts at tourist attractions or restaurants (red vouchers)
When you visit one of the attractions or restaurants listed in the I amsterdam Card Guide, you will receive a 25% discount on the offer described in the guide, provided you present your I amsterdam Card and the red voucher beforehand. These red vouchers are valid until 31 December 2007, even if your I amsterdam Card has expired.

 

Free snacks and drinks
To obtain free snacks and drinks, you will be required to hand in a voucher, and show your I amsterdam Card. You will find the voucher at the bottom of the relevant page, and you can simply tear out the voucher along the perforated line.
